For the Central Chapter BCxA Fall Tech Talk, let’s apply a mashup from an old song lyric to a pharmacy

Accentuate the positive

Eliminate the negative (well not really)

Latch on to the affirmative (Commissioning & Certifiers)

But don’t mess with Mr. In Between (the pharmacy Work Room)

In the year of the BCxA ‘asking the why’, an experienced CxP and Certifier would like to speak to our Central Chapter members with a quick hitter (30 minutes) presentation on pharmacies. We’ll share our thoughts on the ‘why and how to achieve success with the certification process; knowing their why can improve our Cx Process's how, to achieve a passing certification. We’ll also discuss control strategies to achieve proper cascading pressure relationships…i.e. pressure, volumetric, hybrid. Let’s not forget the delivery systems from an individual AHU or pharmacy distribution tied onto an existing unit, then to the terminal devices the units serve: butterfly VAVs, venturi valves, fast, slow, supply, exhaust, return, series fan powered VAV, HEPA fan filter units. And let us not forget pressure, humidity, and temperature. We can think of this presentation as a movie trailer previewing more detailed discussions on particular subject matter next year per your (memberships) direction. Hold onto your hats...this will be fast, but it will be informative.  

Following the presentation, Central Chapter members are encouraged to remain in attendance for our Annual Board Meeting.

Please join us for this quarter's BCxA Central Chapter Tech-Talk as we dive into a discussion of Building Enclosure Commissioning (BECx). We have brought in two very knowledgeable speakers to join us, Eric Seaverson and Russ Mink; they'll provide an overview of their roles and focus on a project, then jump into questions from our members.

Eric Seaverson is a registered professional engineer and Senior Director at Intertek, overseeing
building science solutions groups throughout the central and southwest regions of the US.  Eric is located in Milwaukee, WI, and has almost 30 years of experience solely focused on building
enclosure commissioning, consulting, and testing. 
The building science solutions group at Intertek is primarily focused on building enclosure commissioning, consulting and testing of new construction projects and existing buildings and is supported by a network of labs that certify building enclosure products and construct and test laboratory mockups for high profile projects.
 
Russ Mink is the president of Building Envelope Allies, an inspection and testing agency headquartered in Carmel, Indiana. As the president, Russ leads a team of inspectors, while reviewing project specifications/details and developing testing plans.
Russ has been a building envelope consultant for eighteen years beginning as a roof consultant prior to earning a building envelope certification in 2008. Since obtaining an infrared thermographer certification in 2006, he has scanned over 3 million square feet of commercial roofs which has resulted in over 10 million dollars of cost avoidance opportunities for building owners undergoing roof replacements.

So here's our premise for a tech talk for YOU, the BAS contractor: we'll provide Midwest insights on steps that we see typically result in success for YOU, the BAS contractor, and would seek similar feedback from you for us, the Cx Provider. In addition to our thoughts, we want to spend the most time providing an opportunity 'Ask a Cx Provider' anything; you've got a question....we've got an opinion, because as always, CxP's offer opinion and not direction.
