Northeast Chapter – 11th Annual Commissioning Summit

By Brad Jones, President, Northeast Chapter

What a difference a couple of months makes! The sun gleaming off the Charles River and Boston’s skyline provided a dramatic backdrop for the Annual Summit on May 8 at the Samberg Conference Center at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Originally scheduled for March, the event was the victim of one of this winter’s many Nor’easters and had to be postponed. We couldn’t have asked for a better spring day for the rescheduled event as the audience at the sold-out event was treated to six sessions from a range of speakers:

  1. The opportunities to leverage data collected in the commissioning process to add value to our clients;
  2. How Worcester Polytechnic Institute is using building projects on campus as teaching and research tools for students;
  3. The inside scope from a construction manager on how to best engage contractor MEP teams in the commissioning process;
  4. Our 2017 Commissioning Project Award Winners provided case studies of the award-winning projects;
  5. How MIT is utilizing data monitoring tools to manage building performance; and
  6. Our final speaker provided a look ahead to how technology integration and new mobile technologies are going to provide opportunities for the commissioning industry.

Thanks to all the attendees and presenters and, of course, we thank our sponsors who helped make the event a success: Control Technologies, CxAlloy, and Facility Grid Commissioning Software. We’ll see you at the next event as we collectively work to grow the commissioning community and support our chapter members.
