WE’RE ADVOCATING FOR YOU! Cx in the Marketplace: The Smart Analytics Campaign

Major energy savings. Improved maintenance. Solid data management. BCxA is a proud Organizing Partner in this Campaign, which recognized five organizations for their exemplary implementation of Energy Management and Information Systems (EMIS) in the 2nd Annual Spring Awards. Participants have earned significant benefits from their installation of EMIS, and their use of these tools in their monitoring-based commissioning (MBCx) process. These five organizations were recognized at a special recorded awards webinar in which they share tips for success and details of how they achieved successful implementation of analytics; they are also featured in the Smart Energy Analytics Campaign Success Story. Here are the five winners including their energy savings achievements:

  1. Best Practices in the Use of Fault Detection and Diagnostics (FDD). University of Iowa – Katie Rossmann, Data Analytics and Cx Manager: 13%-24% energy savings at buildings with the most focused use of FDD
  2. Energy Performance in a Portfolio. S. General Services Administration –  Chip Pierpont, GSA Facility Technologies: 14% energy reduction since EMIS installed in 57 buildings
  3. Energy Performance in a Single Site. The Franklin – Jerry Burin, Sieben Energy Associates accepting on behalf of The Franklin: 9% whole building energy savings
  4. Largest Portfolio Using EMIS. District of Columbia, Department of General Services – Zach Dobelbower, Associate Director for Sustainability and Energy: 17% whole building savings for 25 buildings in the portfolio
  5. Innovation in the Use of EMIS. California State University, Dominguez Hills – Kenny Seeton, Energy Manager: FDD supports demonstrations of advanced technologies through easy access to data and ability to verify savings.

MBCx is a growing practice across the country, and one that is supported by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Smart Energy Analytics Campaign through technical assistance and recognition.  (Note to readers: there is still time to join the Campaign as a Participant or Supporting Partner.)

To learn more, you are invited to attend the free Smart Energy Analytics Campaign webinar, “Dashboards and Beyond: Designing Energy Information Systems for Success,” moderated by Hannah Kramer of LBNL, with a panel of participants from the commercial real estate sector. The webinar, discussing tips on installing and setting up EIS systems, is scheduled for Wednesday, July 18 at 2pm EDT. Register here.
