NE Chapter Annual Summit

The Northeast Chapter held its 12th Annual Commissioning Summit on May 15 in New York, NY. The full day event included twelve speakers who delivered eight sessions on the latest trends and opportunities in the industry. The event was kicked off with a presentation on upcoming updates to NYC’s local laws related to commissioning by Syed Abidi and Holly Savoia from the NYC Department of Buildings. John Villani, Grumman/Butkus and John Runkle, Intertek, utilized a case study from a New York University project to highlight the experience of integrated building enclosure commissioning into the total building commissioning process. This set the stage for Ben Townsend, WDP Consulting, who presented on the purpose and benefits of enclosure commissioning to close out the morning.

During lunch the 2018 Northeast Chapter Project Award Winners were highlighted. Jeff Legarzo, Noresco and Deng Lin, NYC Department of City Administrative Services kicked off the afternoon by highlighting lessons learned from retrocommissioning efforts across DCAS’s building portfolio. Sophie Cardona and Mayra Lujan from NYSERDA gave an update on NYSERDA’s latest incentive programs of interest to the commissioning community.

To wrap up the event, separate sessions focused on monitoring-based commissioning using fault detection and diagnostics by Peter Serian, Copper Tree Analytics and the possibilities of leveraging data captured during the commissioning process to help facilitate the transition to building operations by Jacob Terry, CxAlloy. Thank you to all of our speakers for making this year’s Summit another success!

Following the Summit, we continued the conversations and networking at a pub across the street at our CxSocial. Events like these help to grow the commissioning community and we continue to seek ways to provide our members with education and training and networking opportunities.

Thank you to our Gold level sponsors that helped make the event a success, we appreciate their support:
