BCxA Market Study – Value of Commissioning
The Building Commissioning Association (BCxA) is proud to announce publication of the “Value of Commissioning Market Survey Report.” BCxA partnered with Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) to produce a two-part update to the 2009 study, “Building Commissioning: A Golden Opportunity for Reducing Energy Costs and Greenhouse-Gas Emissions.” A goal of this partnership was to produce authentic resources and a current baseline that confirm the value of commissioning for BCxA members, facility owners and building industry stakeholders.
The overall study is based on two separate surveys: a building data survey produced by LBNL, and a market survey conducted by BCxA. Respondents included North American BCxA membership and utility contributors.
The results of the building data survey are summarized in a forthcoming journal article “LBNL Building Commissioning Cost and Savings Across Two Decades and 1,500 Projects,” currently in final review. The results of the market survey complement the data survey with information on market influences, drivers for procuring commissioning services, and the effectiveness of commissioning practices.
BCxA’s Value of Commissioning web page is dedicated to research and relevant publications on the value of commissioning. The BCxA Market Survey Report, related presentations, relevant technical papers and articles from peer organizations are available. As soon as the building data article is published, it will be loaded to this website.
WE WANT YOUR OPINION. Members of the building community are strongly encouraged to weigh in on commissioning survey topics, and suggest further research, by contacting the Building Commissioning Association at www.bcxa.org/contact/.
