2-Day Hands-On Technical Cx Workshop: Electric League of the Pacific NW

The Electric League of the Pacific Northwest is hosting a 2-day Technical Commissioning Workshop on Oct 23-24, 2019, from 8am-5pm each day in Seattle, WA. The Building Commissioning Association’s senior commissioning providers, Bruce Pitts and David Sellers, team up to provide instruction based on their combined expertise in commissioning and hands-on teaching.

The class includes introductory lecture content, interactive exercises using SketchUp models, and field activities in the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center mechanical spaces to reinforce and practice skills the attendees are exposed to in the classroom. The instructors will work interactively with the students using trend data, spreadsheets and other tools to develop selected findings in the models.

Instructors will lead teams through scoping a virtual chilled water plant, and virtual air handling system, and a virtual condenser water system. The class will also include an electrical system commissioning element on basic electrical distribution system concepts and what needs to be considered when EBCx implementations involve modifying the system by adding components like variable-speed drives.

The finding development session will explore what needs to be done to investigate, implement, and verify common commissioning findings. While the exercises will be specific to the opportunities observed in the models, the techniques and concepts explored will be broad-based and applicable to virtually any commissioning process.
