Committees are essential to the work of the BCxA. They allow for focused attention on specific areas of the industry, such as advocacy, best practices, member services, education, or events. Members with relevant expertise can provide valuable insights and guidance, ensuring that the Association’s initiatives are well-informed and effective. By joining a committee, you have a direct role in shaping the direction of the association and industry. Our committees allow the association to tackle multiple projects simultaneously. The BCxA committees provide structure, expertise, and focus, ensuring we can effectively serve our members, advocate for industry needs, and manage our activities efficiently.
At our recent Leadership Summit, our Committee Chairs reported their goals for the year and areas where they can use help. Are you ready to take the leap and help shape the association and profession?
Advocacy Committee
Goals: This year, complete and publish the updated ASHE/BCxA Commissioning Handbook. The committee will also work closely with ASHRAE, AIA, BOMA, and NASFA.
What you should know: If you have experience commissioning hospitals and want to be a reviewer, do not hesitate to contact the staff.
Awards Committee
Goals: We want to focus on two items: providing feedback to all applicants and developing an approach to presenting all the winners with their stories at the conference.
What you should know: Please encourage all to apply for the awards. It is important to recognize outstanding work in both our projects and individuals. Take the time to write thoughtful application responses.
Best Practices Committee
Goals: We will provide roles and responsibilities documents for all the stakeholders in the commissioning process and publish our Building Enclosures Best Practices.
What you should know: The BCxA best practices and owner resources are all free on the website. Members have access to all recently updated resources.
Conference Planning Committee
Goals: Improving the overall conference experience. The Committee will do this through an updated abstract process, offering more engagement from the attendees and leveling the overall experience for everyone. Abstracts are due March 8th.
What you should know: The conference abstract process has been updated, and we are looking for more engagement with the audience this year. The abstract review process will provide structured feedback to everyone who submits an abstract. Make sure you plan to attend October 22-24, 2025, in Pittsburgh!
Education and Training Committee
Goals: The Committee will collaborate with the Marketing Committee to ensure that the training activities reach a wider audience.
What you should know: The BCxA has classroom training, online learning, free webinars, and we can customize training for your organization with our industry experts.
Professional Development Committee
Goals: This Committee is working to have all our webinars published for 2025 by May. The Chair is reaching out to all the Chapters for ideas on topics.
What you should know: All members receive eight free webinars a year with continuing education credits – 1 AIA LU each.
Marketing Committee
Goals: Drive more authentic and consistent content on social media related to BCxA events.
What you should know: We want you to share your events and the case studies about commissioning projects in your region. Hashtags: #BCxA, #BuildingCx #, BCxA Blog, #BCxAUniversity.
Membership Committee
Goals: Measurable deliverables from Chapters.
What you should know: Have a chapter representative at each membership meeting who is prepared to discuss what their chapter is doing to grow membership.
Owners
Goals: Create an informal community of owners who are members of BCxA.
What you should know: If you have someone interested in joining the BCxA who works on the owner side, there is a special member rate ($100 per year). Send us an email with their contact info if they are looking to connect with other owners.
