Job Summary
Major duties and responsibilities in relation to the commissioning of electrical systems include:
• Serve as commissioning authority on projects
• Assist with the creation of detailed test procedures
• Perform reviews of design and construction documents focusing on power distribution, emergency power, and low voltage systems
• Participate in construction meetings
• Perform construction site visits to observe construction progress and compliance with the contract
• Conduct and document functional testing of electrical equipment, including panelboards, transformers, switchgear, generators, transfer switches, fire alarm systems, and security systems
• Track and lead resolution of non-compliance issues discovered during the project

Minimum Requirements
• Technical I 2-year I Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical Construction/Maintenance, Industrial Systems Technology, or similar
• Ability to use analytical tools and test equipment
• Ability to work self-directed
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
• Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software
• Approximately 50 to 60% of time at project sites
• Flexibility to travel to out-of-town projects

Preferred Experience and Skills
• 2+ years of experience
• CxA certification
• Experience in healthcare, data center, and/or pharmaceutical projects
• Experience using CxAlloy or similar commissioning software

Commissioning Engineer

Job Description:
• Coordinate, perform and oversee field commissioning services for all types of facilities.
• Generate commissioning plans; write specifications; develop installation checklists and test procedures; verify/validate systems controls/equipment; document process, develop final report and manuals.
• Frequent travel to project/client locations.

Requirements:
Mandatory:
• 4 Year Technical Degree
Preferred:
• 5 years+ experience in commissioning of bio-containment laboratory facilities (BSL-3, BSL-3Ag, BSL-4), including HVAC (air and hydronic), controls, plumbing, laboratory equipment, fire protection, security, electrical systems.
• PE, CxA, LEED AP
Will be considered:
• 5 years+ experience in HVAC design(air/hydronic), controls, plumbing, laboratory equipment, fire protection, security, electrical systems for bio-containment laboratory facilities.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will:
• Be ambitious and flexible.
• Have good organizational/planning skills with the ability to direct a team through the commissioning process.
• Have strong verbal/written communication skills.
• Have the ability to generate accurate, detailed reports.
• Have the ability to read/understand building drawings, specifications, and submittals.
• Have knowledge of controls systems and sequences.
• Be proficient with computers and Microsoft Office. Familiarity with AutoCad or Revit is a plus.
• Possess, or be able to obtain, US security clearance.

Location:
• Maryland, greater DC or Atlanta area preferred; Other locations near major airports will be considered.

Physical Requirements:
• Candidate must be mobile in/around construction sites/facilities. Must be able to climb ladders, crawl in/around mechanical space with piping and ductwork, carry equipment up to 50 pounds.

Commissioning Engineer

We are currently seeking a Commissioning Engineer to join our amazing team as a member of our growing Rocky Mountain Energy division in our Salt Lake City office.

You’re great at:

  • Providing recommendations and feedback regarding the design, equipment selection, test and balance requirements, maintainability, and potential enhancements of the system.
  • Assessing the capability of system(s) and documentation to achieve the design intent.
  • Understanding the design concept and intent by reviewing system documents, including drawings and scheduled equipment.
  • Reviewing documentation for accuracy and completeness and verifying the system installation and functional performance are per McKinstry design standards, industry best practices, commissioning standards, and project specifications.
  • Developing and managing project specific commissioning plans, procedures, and schedules from pre-start to test-adjust-balance field work.
  • Conducting coordination meetings as needed with owners, project management, and contractor commissioning teams.
  • Maintaining, tracking and operating test equipment.
  • Developing a project specific training agenda and managing the systems training of assigned McKinstry Service mechanics and/or owners representatives.
  • Maintaining complete and legible commissioning documentation to be used in the commissioning report.
  • Contributing (on behalf of the owner) to the efficient and effective resolution of deficiencies and construction-related issues (RFI, ASI etc.)
  • Compiling project documentation and transmitting to business and brand services for report publication.
  • Communicating noted commissioning issues, questions, and concerns through proper channels in a timely manner.
  • Working with commissioning manager and teams to schedule required equipment calibrations.

What we would like to see from you:

  • Three years of experience w/ HVAC test equipment.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical and controls systems required
  • Proficiency with computer systems like MS Office Suit
  • Ability and willingness to travel regionally
  • Physical ability to walk job sites in uneven terrain.

Commissioning Project Manager

Drake Integrations is seeking an experienced engineer and commissioning agent to join our team as a Commissioning Project Manager. The ideal candidate will have significant experience with building automation and MEP building systems with documented success in leading commissioning projects from start to finish. Must be able to manage several commissioning projects at once, develop commissioning plans/specifications, complete design reviews, develop commissioning schedules, review submittal information, organize and lead onsite commissioning meetings, document construction issues, develop & witness functional test procedures, coordinate testing with subcontractors, review trends and TAB reports, develop System Manuals, and complete a Commissioning Report. Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills with Owners, GC’s, Subcontractors and Commissioning Team Members is required.
