Director of Commissioning - Austin, TX

Overview:

Encotech is a boutique engineering firm with MEP, Structural and Commissioning Departments. Encotech has a rich 32-year history as a well-established player in Texas.

Position is responsible for leading and executing efforts of the Commissioning Department for MEP systems on projects including commercial, institutional, infrastructure, healthcare and educational. This entails new construction and renovation, retro-commissioning for existing facilities, energy studies, and energy modeling.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Work with client, design team, and contractors to review projects in the commissioning phase.
  • Act as a commissioning subject matter expert and support ongoing process improvements.
  • Leverage expertise to troubleshoot systems.
  • Manage, train and mentor commissioning staff and grow the department.
  • Develop OPR’s for clients.
  • Develop and perform PFC’s.
  • Create and perform final performance tests.
  • Develop project-specific MDL’s; coordinate resolution of deficiencies.
  • Develop commissioning plans. Maintain, update, and distribute plans to project team.
  • Issue project status updates to clients regularly.
  • Schedule and chair commissioning meetings.
  • Prepare commissioning specifications and deliver to project engineer for review and inclusion.
  • Review and verify all commissioning procedures.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute job observation site visits, with reports.
  • Assist in RFQ write-ups; participate in interviews when required.
  • Assist with business development efforts such as meeting new clients.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in engineering or related field.
  • PE license and/or Commissioning Certification desired.
  • 10-20+ years of related experience desired, including a minimum of 10+ years commissioning experience.
  • PM expertise (scheduling, budgeting, and resource planning).
  • Proficiency in client relationship / management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Proficiency with CM software (PlanGrid, CxAlloy, etc).
  • Technical knowledge of MEP system design, operation, and controls.
  • Familiar with engineering submittal review and RFI processes.
  • Ability to review / interpret MEP drawings independently.
  • Familiarity with ASHRAE 0 and 1 Guidelines.
