Title 24 Acceptance Test Technician - Sunnyvale, CA

Job Summary
The Title 24 Acceptance Test Technician (ATT) is responsible for performing field verification and functional performance testing of lighting and mechanical systems in accordance with California's Building Energy Efficiency Standards (Title 24, Part 6). This role ensures that newly installed systems meet state-mandated energy efficiency and control requirements for nonresidential buildings.
- Key Responsibilities
Perform Title 24 acceptance tests for lighting controls, mechanical systems, and HVAC components. - Verify system installation and programming for compliance with design specifications and Title 24 standards.
- Complete and submit all necessary documentation, including Certificates of Acceptance and Nonresidential Compliance Forms.
- Coordinate testing schedules with project stakeholders including contractors, building owners, and commissioning agents.
- Interpret construction documents, electrical/mechanical drawings, and specifications.
- Maintain accurate records of all testing activities and results.
- Stay current with changes in the California Energy Code and related compliance tools.
- Participate in ongoing training and certification renewal as required by state or ATT provider.
Qualifications
Required:
- Valid ATT certification from an approved Acceptance Test Technician Certification Provider (ATTCP) such as CALCTP or NLCAA.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Proficiency with test equipment such as light meters, occupancy sensors, and HVAC controls.
Preferred:
- Experience in energy compliance testing, commissioning, or commercial electrical/lighting & HVAC systems.
- OSHA 10 or 30 certification.
- Ability to read and interpret Title 24, Part 6 documentation and compliance forms.
Skills
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
- Competence with mobile apps, Excel, and online reporting tools.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple testing sites.
Working Conditions
- Field work at commercial construction and retrofit sites.
- May require work at heights, in confined spaces, or during non-standard hours.
- Occasional lifting of equipment up to 50 lbs.
